You can consider getting a work permit. That way you can come here for a year or two and bring your son on your application.

You will need a job offer first.

The way it works isn't really that complicated.

What has to happen is this:

Your potential employer has to apply to the government for what is called a Labour Market Opinion (LMO). What this entails is the government reviewing the job market to ensure that there is a shortage of Canadians to fill your job. You cannot take a job away from a Canadian. So, you have to have a skill, or work experience, in an area where Canada needs workers and there aren't enough Canadians who have that skill or work experience.

If that's the case then the government will give the employer a positive LMO.

Then you can apply for the work permit.

You will need to prove your credentials and also need to undergo background, medical and criminal checks.

If all goes well you will get the permit.

It is also possible to get your son a study permit if you do not have a work permit.

The visa is not through the school. He has to have been accepted at the school and I don't know for sure if an autism school is treated the same as other schools.

It may be best to consult with an immigration lawyer if you cannot come on a work permit.

If it's a school to teach English that will not likely qualify either unfortunately.

It's not about telling them your a student. As I explained only certain types of schools are considered for study permits and I've said that if the school is to teach English it's not likely that this would qualify for a study permit.\

You should not pay any school until some sort of visa is secure.

It's likely best to try and get a work permit.

As I said as well, you better consult with an immigration lawyer if you cannot get a work permit.

As well, most schools do not admit foreign students or if they do it's at a much higher fee rate so you should check carefully into this as well.
