Hi we have not contacted an attorney and have not been given any of the insurance companys information. Also this occured in Alberta I do know that there are laws that vary province to province

I guess to give you as much info as we have at this point,
Five persons were riding in a pick up truck.
My son was in the front seat of the truck
The driver (according to the other passengers who have given this information to the police) was asked and one girl in her statement to police was scared and crying and begging the driver to slow down, the driver would not slow down and would not stop to allow another passenger to drive. the passengers said he had consumed at least ten beers during this back road drive, and had a case of beer under his feet. No one had seat belts on. The driver attempted to "drift" a corner lost control of the vehicle and it went off the road and begin to roll end over end, the back of the roof of the truck was ripped off my son was ejected from the vehicle and upon going through the roof his neck was broken and the coroner estimated it took less than 3 seconds for him to die. The RCMP has given us no information to this point and we have no idea who the insurance company is. There were no other fatalities and the police did not even do the death notification another set of parents called to alert us of the accident upon which we wnt to the hospital. The other 4 passengers had been brought in but because my son was declared dead by the paramedics he had to wait until a coroner come could and examine the body. Also we have learned that the rcmp have on tape my son buying alcohol that night from the liquor store where he was not asked for ID so charges are pending against the store. Is there also any recourse there? We plan on starting a foundation in his name and we are not doing this for personal monetary gain. The funerals have already been paid for by us so that is not the issue either. Thank you for any help you may be, we really feel that sometimes the only way to teach people a lesson is to get them where it hurts. the driver has also had one previous accident.
