She is now here illegally. It's unfortunate that she did not deal with her status issues while she was still here legally.
She will have to go home to apply for permanent residency or even for a temporary work permit. As she is from the US she can likely go across the border to do so but there's no guarantee that she will be permitted back in at this point.

not really her degree was in english and she is a writer she does'nt know what way to go

I just didn't want to start doing that until I heard what her thoughts are.
She can apply under what is called the Canada Experience Class. She can do that as a graduate of a post-secondary school in Canada.

She needs to work for one full year after graduation.
She can get what is called a post-graduate work permit.

As well as she is in Toronto she can easily consult, for free, with an immigration lawyer.
