What I am saying is that the basic rule is that she is right. She doesn`t share her inheritance. The basic rules provide that all property acquired during the marriage is shared otherwise and that it doesn`t matter who does what or pays for what during the marriage.
But, sometimes it can be successfully argued that in short marriage this isn`t fair. So, it`s possible that your son`s contributions will matter, only because the marriage is so short.
If he sees a family lawyer, the lawyer can say whether based on all their unique circumstances (as opposed to my only being able to answer in generalities) whether your son can successfully argue that a 50/50 split less her inheritance is not just in this case.
I am saying he may have to cut his losses but it may be that getting lawyers involved will give him the upper hand because her lawyer will tell her that the marriage is short enough that she may not get half if he's made all the contributions to the home for the whole marriage.
