If this matter went to Court the Court would make it's decision based on what it determines to be in the best interests of your child.
The facts are that after you both agreed to make a change and the change proved to be the right decision the father wants to revert back to the old schedule because you don't want to get back together with him. It's hard to see how that can be in your son's best interests.
I would suggest you either write the father a letter yourself or have your lawyer send one to his lawyer. It can set out the facts and set out how well your son is doing and explain that because of this you are not willing to revert back to the old schedule as to do so would not be in your son's best interests.
You or your lawyer can say that if necessary you will seek the assistance of th Court.
