There's no way to predict what the legal fees will be because I cannot know what this will end up entailing.
Frankly, it's hard to see that this will become much of a battle because as soon as he gets a lawyer the lawyer will set him straight.
Child support is non-discretionary and university tuition is a clear extraordinary expense. These must be contributed to in proportion to your respective incomes. He's not going to be able to get out of that.
So, he's going to be told quite quickly that he has no leg to stand on at all.
This is a simple issue and you don't need the more experienced family lawyer for this but you do need a lawyer who does family law. If you retain someone who is not a family lawyer you will end up paying more.
As well, you need to deal with this at once as the Court will not necessarily make a retroactive order if you let this go.
