Then you might well be charged with fraud. If you deposited cheques to your daughter's account knowing that they would bounce, then withdrew the money right away, that's fraud. Just because it was your daughter's account and not your own doesn't matter, as you have access to the account. It's the same as if I go to an ATM and deposit a blank envelope but say that it contains $500, then I withdraw that money right away. That's fraud.

The fact that you've made up the loss and presumably paid the NSF fees helps you, in that the bank isn't out any money and has arguably made money by the service fees.
But it doesn't change the fact that this was fraud by definition.

I doubt that the bank would pursue criminal charges if you've made up the loss. However, the bank is right. I recommend closing your daughter's account and opening up another at a different bank, and that you not do this again. The bank doesn't care why you did what you did, any more than the police care why I felt the need to get behind the wheel after nine pints of beer (if I ever did that).

You can't stop the bank from pursuing criminal charges, but in this case I doubt that they will. This has all been noted on your credit rating too, so I urge you not to do such again. Get some overdraft on your account for those occasions when you need a little extra until the next deposit.
