If you were a citizen when your son was born, then your son is a Canadian citizen. You can immediately apply for his proof of citizenship. If you were not a citizen when he was born, then you will have to sponsor him to be a permanent resident and then apply for citizenship. If he is a minor, he should be able to apply for citizenship immediately after getting permanent residency. However, you cannot only apply for permanent residency if you do not intend to live in Canada when the visa is issued.
You can sponsor your wife to become a permanent resident of Canada. However, she will not get her visa unless you intend to live in Canada when the visa is issued. After physically living in Canada for a total of 1,095 days (three years) she can apply for Canadian citizenship. The 1,095 days of residency must have been accummulated in the four years prior to her applying.
