hii my landlord smelled weed in our building we are the younger couple and got a notice for smoking pot we dont what legal matters can we take to get this resolved

Is this a smaller building or a large one?

Are you saying he suspects it's you because you are younger and there's no other reason?

i live in calgary alberta a tenant complained of the smell and they said it was me and the notice we got i will type it here for u i live in a town house complex

1st notice

dear tenants i have received complaints from a tenant regarding the smell of pot/marijuana coming from youre unit

this behavior will not be tolerated and must stop immediatly. under the terms of youre lease you must allow other tenants the quiet enjoymeny of there premises at all times as per section 18a: in order to promote the saftey, welfare reasonable enjoyement and comfort of other tenants of the residential complex and the landlord, the tenant or the tenants invites or attendees must not cause, or permit any noise interference, disturb, harass, or annoy another person at the residential complex at any times.

we are monitoring this situation closely and we will take whatever steps are necessary to rectify this problem, uncluding the immediate issue of a legal notice witch may result in termination of youre tenacy.

You can write them back and say that you've received the notice but are hereby advising them formally that this smell in fact did not come from your unit at all and that you recommend that they investigate the situation more fully immediately.

As well, indicate that you expect to hear back from them with respect to your concerns and that you want to be told what steps are being taken by them to investigate and set the record straight.

Of course keep a copy of the letter you send.

If they try to evict you then you can fight the eviction on the basis that the complaint was in error.
