VerifiedIn BC the executor is required to give all beneficiaries plus anyone who would have inherited had there not been a Will a copy of the Will and a notice that tells them how long they have to make a Claim to the estate.
BC is very different than Ontario and in BC it's not easy to disinherit kids. In Ontario it is.
In BC there is an Act called the Wills Variation Act. You and your brother can make a claim under that Act. If the Court finds that what you father did was unfair to you, the Court might rewrite the Will.
If you father put in some provisions setting out why you were disinherited the Court may very well consider this explanation.
It would make sense for you and your brother to consult with an estate lawyer in BC.
What your brother can do is contact the Law Society and use their Lawyer Referral Service. You will be given the name of a lawyer and you can consult with the lawyer and the first half hour will only cost you $25.
