Their neighbour has to be reimbursed for the full amount as this will hurt her insurance rates otherwise.
The company has a duty both to the customer (the friend) and the owner.
The owner's statements cannot be relied on as the owner isn't an expert or professional in this area. The company should be.
The complication is that the contract with the company is with the friend.
The owner can say the friend was acting as his agent hopefully.
If not, the situation is complicated because the friend may have to sue the company and worse case scenario the owner has to sue the friend.
But, the botXXXXX XXXXXne is that the company will most likely be found liable if the matter were to go to Court.
