You cannot get a divorce for a year since you separated.
You can bring an application for custody right away.
You will need to retain a family lawyer.
The lawyer will apply to Court for custody immediately.
What you can do is contact the Law Society and use their Lawyer Referral Service. You will be given the names of three lawyers and can consult with any or all of them and the first half hour will be free.
