No, I have been with the company for 6 years, as part of are benefit package we can collect 70% of are pay for Short Term Disability. I have MS and as of Feb 2nd I have been on STD. As of Feb 1st the union agreed to add the 100% STD etc. I wrote the union requesting coverage and was denied. Now I inquireing if there any legal recourse.

Ontario's benefit coverage up to February 1st was 70% of pay if on your shot term disability plan eg ($100-30%= $70) In Alerta and BC their agreement allows 100% short term. As of February 2nd I went on short term for MS at the 70% coverage. I wrote requesting the new 100% benefit and was denied. Apparently because I have not paid any premiums ect. Therefore is their a possibly to get the 100% benefit?

we are getting close, yes all the short term benefits for 100% not 70% coverage. I sent the union a letter requesting coverage under the new plan since I started std on Feb 2nd and was denied since I had not had any payroll deductions for the new plan. However, they tell me if I had only paid 1day, 1/2 day of benefit deductions from my cheque I would be covered under the new plan for simply having 25 cents deducted etc

the union has refused the benefit as this benefit is under the collective agreement effective February 1 st
