VerifiedWhat you do is you take all your documentation and apply in person. You explain the situation. It may be enough or they may require further proof.
Spouses who take their spouse's last name have no problem getting passports in their married name. I've never heard of being asked for a marriage certificate.
If they want further proof ask what proof they will accept.
You aren't likely going to have a problem though as your situation is not uncommon.
