I would like to find out how to deal with the public adjuster we hired for fire claim.

To tell you the truth , we also had a fire loss 10 yrs ago(1999) and we hired the same public adjuster we have now for this fire claim. Back then we had a bad experience with them and now we feel we are having the same bad experience again with this fire claim. However, the reason why we hired them again for this fire claim was because they are the only fire loss claim that are experienced in this type of losses and we thought they would help us better with this fire loss to make up for the last one in 1999. But now we feel they are doing the same thing they did back in 1999. Yes, we are paying the public adjuster 8%. It was suppose to be about 10% but because we had that issue back in 1999 they were willing to negotiate the percentage for us. And yes, our insurance knows that we hired a public adjuster to help us with our fire claim.Nevertheless, the only way we were able to ask these public adjuster to help us, they have advised us that we have to stick with them till the end, because we fired them back in 1999 due to what we are experiencing now. We dont know if we can fire them now because we promised them verbally that we would stick with them till the end. They are suppose to be experience in expiditing fire loss claims but ours seem to be dragging on. So please let us know what to do in this situation. Thanks

I just want to find out what you mean by hiring a lawyer even though we have a public adjuster.

Do you mean we dont necessarily have to fire the public adjuster? But how does that work if we have a public adjuster and a lawyer representing us? and is this going to be worth it? And yes there is a substantial amount of money with our fire loss claim that's why we dont want to settle for less with this claim because we have 6 kids also who lost their expensive belongings and i will not let our insurance shortchange us. So please let me know what would be the best way to deal with this because right now I feel the public adjuster is going to force us to take whatever the insurance is going to offer us and we dont want to be act under duress.

Do we have to fire the public adjuster first before we hire a lawyer to represent us? We are just in fear if we fire the public adjuster. As i have mentioned before the only way they were going to represent us again and lower their fees was that if we stick with them till the end.However we did not have this in writing but we feel obligated with them and we are good people that we dont want any problems with anyone and we dont want them making problems for us because it's been 6 months now since we had the fire loss. And this is like De Ja Vu all over again. This is a very stressful time for us dealing with this fire loss again and dealing with our public adjuster who we feel as you say are not in our best interest. Could you please tell me how we would deal with the public adjuster in a way that they can understand not to take this personally if we do end up letting them go?
