I am not aware of any rule that directly provides that beneficiaries must be provided with the identity of the estate lawyer, however, I would argue such is implicit in the obligations of the executor.
Among the many duties and responsibilities of the executor, he or she must maintain and provide an accurate accounting of all financial transactions in the estate. Specifically, they must keep accurate records of each transaction including the hiring of an estate lawyer. Beneficiaries are entitled to such accounting and specifically are entitled to view all source documents to verify the validity of the accounting. In other words, the executor must disclose that an estate lawyer has been retained and disclose how much money has been paid to such lawyer. The beneficiaries are not only entitled to know how much money was spent, but are entitled to see the lawyers invoice.
As such, by implication, it is clear that a beneficiary is entitled to know who the estate law firm is.
