VerifiedThey cannot get divorced in Canada. To get divorced in Canada they have to have been residents in Canada for at least a year.
If you were thinking that they had to get divorced in Canada because they got married in Canada that's not how it works.
They will have to get divorced in Thailand.

So long as the divorce is valid in Thailand it will be honoured in Canada.
The way the law works in Canada is that the Divorce Act is federal and so covers all the provinces. Then each province has it's own provincial Acts that cover issues such as distribution of property.
