The ex-wife is making an mistake. She is actually almost acting irrationally which make me suspect that all isn't right here.

It's a bit ironic really because invariably the shoe is on the other foot and the father is saying that he won't co-operate about the test and then the mother has to go to Court to get it ordered.

If the child is the biological child of your husband obviously he will have to pay child support. If he isn't he won't. He should tell her that unless and until it's proven that he is the biological father he won't consider paying her child support and that given that he's offered to take a paternity test but she has declined to co-operate he can only conclude that the child isn't his and that he doesn't want to have any more contact with her. He should send her a letter confirming the conversation so that he will have proof that he had wanted to do the paterity test but she refused to co-operate.

Unfortunately, there is no way of being sure that she will go away or whether she will forget about this for now and come back again later.

But, the answer above is just relating to your question which is about child support.

On the other hand, if your husband wants to know about whether the child because he wants a relationship with the child if it's his child then he can compel her to co-operate with the test. He can get a Court order to that affect and then can seek sole custody, joint custoday, access etc. If he wants to go that route it would make sense for him to hire a family lawyer to act on his behalf.
