Unfortunately, the law is clear and the only court that has jurisdiction over your child is the court in the jurisdiction where your child habitually resides so the court in Texas has no jurisdiction over your child.

As well to get divorce at least on of you has to live in the jurisdiction for one full year before applying.

As well if there are assets in Ontario then only a court in Ontario can make an order about the assets.

But I am a retired family lawyer in Toronto and what you have been told is simply not true. Fathers are treated exactly as mothers are and this has been the case for decades now. The court will absolutely not favour the mother over you because of your genders and the presumption and most common disposition now is for joint custody.

All this will help because it will impeach her credibility. An experienced family lawyer will be able to deal with financial disclosure of assets even in the US.

I don't know what city you are in but there are plenty of excellent family lawyers around.

You need one that is somewhat experienced but not the most expensive in the city.
