This is not adding up.

First, in Quebec health care is covered by the province. There is no charge for an abortion.

Second, there is no law that says you would have to pay for an abortion even if it wasn't covered.

Finally this is extortion. She is likely lying about the pregnancy but in any event is committing a criminal offence i she is threatening to damage your reputation if you don't pay.

So the best advice I can give you is to call the police and report that you are being extorted. She can be charged and as well she will be placed under a restraining order so she cannot contact you, your employer, your family etc.

You can also retain a lawyer in Montreal who can send her a cease and desist letter threatening a lawsuit for a restraining order and for damages to your reputation that she is causing.

No that is not how the Federal Child Support Guidelines work. It is based simply on your gross annual income.

No it doesn't at all. Canada and the US are reciprocating jurisdictions.

But honestly, I am quite sure she is lying. She is committing blackmail. She wants money. She wants to scare you into paying. It's that simple.

She can pocket the money and still not do the abortion and still collect support.

And abortions are free!

The child support is always based on your current income. It is varied when your income is varied.

If you give her money for an abortion she will extort you further. She will start demanding money to stop her from calling your spouse. Statistics are clear. Those who extort do not stop and why would she. You are telling her she can do it successfully. She is committing a criminal offence and the way to stop her is to call the police.

You have no rights to know about the abortion. You have no rights at all until the child is born. But once the child is born you can demand a paternity test before you start paying support.

But what mother would say pay me for an abortion or I will have the kid. That is not possible. She would have to be exceedingly mentally ill.

The doctor will not answer you.

If a child is born then and only then can you get an order for a paternity test.

Call them. Explain exactly what is going on. Tell the truth. It was a one night stand. You are married with kids.

She has started calling you and your employer. You are afraid you are going to lose your job. She is demanding money.

They will keep this report and advise you as to what to do. Or they will warn her. Or they will charge her.
