In Canada, in most cases the age of consent to engage in sexual activity is actually 16. So as long as this girl is at least 16 years old your friend does not have any concerns.The age of 18 is sometimes applied but that is in situations where there is exploitation such as through prostitution or pornography or where the person is in a position of trust such as in cases where the person were a teacher or a coach. That was not the case here.
