I apologize for the delay, a possible cause of this condition may be a rear sunroof drain hose that may be kinked or crushed by the rear body side trim panel(s), which may allow water to backup or leak into the rear floor area. Do you have the appropriate tools to perform repairs?
Great! Actually that was JA automatically giving you the option for a call, not me. I have attached a test procedure that I would like for you to perform first so we can pinpoint the cause. Let me know what you get as a result.
The drain hose could be damaged allowing water to leak into the rear compartment, the seals are not waterproof so water that is backed up could leak through the body panel seals. Here is the procedure & I have attached a couple of pictures. I will be away from my computer for a while but will check back & see how you are doing and if you need more assistance. Remove the body side trim panel.
Move the rear seat to the full forward position.
Remove the load floor panel rear extension panel.
Remove the rear compartment floor stowage compartment cover.
Re-position the center pillar lower trim panel to allow body side trim to pass.
Body side Trim Panel Assembly Removal
Procedure
1. Pull outward to disengage the trim panel retainers.
2. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
Remove the rear seat lower anchor plate bolt on the side of the trim panel being replaced. .
Remove the luggage shade, if equipped.
Quarter Upper Trim Panel Assembly Removal
Procedure
1. Loosen the rear compartment opening weather-strip.
2. Route the seat belt through trim panel.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector.
