My sister went out after getting back from the store and vehicle was fine and then went to leave again and when she started it, it sounds like a desiel! I used some motor flush, changed her oil and plugs and changed the camshaft position sensor to since she did have that code and still sounds like a desiel??? Checked the timing and it’s fine?

thats only testing the resistance. thats not testing the operation of it or the voltage and ground to it

disconnect the sensor. check the voltage in position 1. it should be a pink/black wire

Pink/black is 0.01 reading and around 12 volts on the brown/white (middle wire) and 12v on pink wire (other side wire)

plug the cam sensor back in and back probe the brown/white wire. have someone crank the engine and make sure the 12 volts alternate from 0-12 rapidly

It only showed the crank sensor when the cam sensor was unplugged, still just p0341 code

I have unhooked the battery for 15 minutes and cleared the codes with my handheld numerous times but the PO341 comes back every time I start the vehicle

just remember the crank and cam sensors correlate with each other and one can code the other

I wouldn't buy a screw from AutoZone. I recommend an OEM replacement sensor, but as far as the dieseling sound it could be a lot of things but my bet if a worn timing belt

The timing belt does need replaced I took the top of the cover loose and noticed some dry rotting cracks going from side to side around the belt, and a buddy of mine told me if the timing belt tensioner wears put it can make the valve rattling sounds, where is the vvt solenoid located? If the timing belt is wore out would it cause the diesel sound out of nowhere after running perfectly and then coming back out to the vehicle five minutes later to leave and started it up and has been making that sound ever since?

When I replace the spark plugs I also check to see if there was any play in the pistons and all is tight

This has costed me 2 hrs to check two sensors that I already knew was good and replaced man? I need to know what can cause this thing to sound like a diesel/valves rattling sound out of no where? It has good oil pressure, fresh oil change, I even added Lucas oil stabilizer ....

apparently, we are going to disagree on this. it's a worn out belt. if it's cracked from dry rotting, its worn out. it took 2 hours because you didn't know how to use a meter. you have a worn belt or worn cam lobes. good luck

I think I will just get a new timing belt and Idler/tensioner kit and go from there
