Howdy, I have a 2009 Cadillac CTS - not the V. GM 3.6l. It's starting to blow lukewarm air. I'm assuming this is the thermostat. Seem likely?

No, usually if the thermostat was to be opening soon you would get a check engine light with a code P0128.

Blowing luke warm usually is a flow issue through the thermostat, low coolant condition or the heater door/actuator that changes the temperature has failed or is failing.

you can tell for sure by checking the temperature of the heater hoses. One should be hot, the other only warm. IF both hot then you have a coating inside the heater core that needs a coolant flush to fix. If the temperature is good on the hoses then its a heater door issue.

OK! I will check collant level.
Heater door is something a reasonably competent mechanic can do? My understanding is that if it was a thermostat issue it would be throwing a diagnostic code and it's not so that's most likely not the issue, correct?
It does seem if I'm not getting much air flow from the heater vents that face forward and the air flow through the vent by my knees seems lukewarm - not hot.

Minimal air flow could be the result of a plugged cabin air filter. That you can change, it is located under the air inlet grill (under the wiper blade area).
The temperature door actuator, one thing to remember is that if that is the issue, it would affect only the one side. So with that, is the passengers side also not hot?

I have not checked the cabin air filter in a very long time. I can check that. I rarely have anyone else in the car and often don't use the passenger side but it seemed to me that when I checked it, it also was not getting hot. To provide a bit more information, I live in Wisconsin where it is very cold. I generally "Crank" the heat up to 85 and then modulate it down when it gets too hot. The other day I noticed it never was getting "hot" in the cabin - just luke-warm. Getting very little to no air flow out of the dash vents which seemed odd but with my control panel I wasn't clear when air should flow out of those vents and when it should come out of the floor vent by my knees.

Understood. So check/change the cabin air filter,
Verify the passengers side reacts the same, and if so then flush your heater core. To do that, take the heater hoses off then use a pressure washer (lower pressure setting) or garden hose inside the ports that the hoses went onto. Flush into both ends to dislodge and flush out any debris, then try it again.
