No not yet . We...
No not yet . We have no CMP sensor RPM reading when viewing the CMP actuator data with our scan tool. Tested the switching signal voltage on the 4 cam sensors with a multimeter ( no access to a scope, Scan tool has graph if that helps) and they seem Ok. We installed a new timing chain & cam phaser kit when we rebuilt the engine and are confident it is installed correctly.. We have prodemand if that helps.How do we restart the fee process and retain you service?

The engine starts and runs with a slight rough idle. The engine light is on, and the code is P0019. Did you see the two images that were sent in the previous message, if not I can resend them.
To reiterate the original message:
We have no CMP sensor RPM reading when viewing the CMP actuator data with our scan tool. ok, so what I can tell the cam solenoid for the cam actuator can be moved to another bank, lets move that solenoid and erase the codes and see if the P0019 changes to another one, like 0016,0017,0018 or not, that would tell me if the issue is on the bank or the solenoid.

I sent you the info before, here it is again, I have to send this over as an answer , but we do not have to be done so no worries,.

its site policy since this may fix the issue, we may have a bad solenoid, need to swap it to see and verify.

swap the exhaust cam solenoid on bank 2 with another solenoid and erase codes and run engine and recheck.

ok, lets try that first, i am kinda concerned about no cam sensor reading BUT we should have had a fault code for that, so that does not jive with me.

lets see if we can get p0019 to swap and or go away and then we can see what we can do.

usually the only difference is the location of the tab that bolts the solenoid down, other than that the connection and solenoids are physically the same and operate the same.

Ok pulled exhaust solenoids 1 & 2 both have bearing white metal contamination, 2 worse than 1. The original engine failure was spun main bearing and the

ok, sounds like we have the issue found SO FAR, either clean or replace the solenoids, I would take all 4 out and check them.

if its in 1 it is bound to be in the others.

Just putting them back in. Pulled screens of cleaned and manually checked actuator movement. Going to scan it now

Cleared codes ran nice for a couple of minutes then we got P0019 again and started running rough

ok, so now we check the wiring from the sensor to the ecm. let me check the diagrams.

in the meantime pull that one back out and check for more metal

did you put that one back in the same spot or did you switch it to another bank?

swapped it and got the same code. The engine had a rough idle on start up only for a couple of seconds then it settle down nice and smooth till the code set then rough idle again. I have just swapped the solenoids and cleared codes again to see what we get

ok,

so based on all the metal in the solenoid its possible that the camshaft adjuster is stuck or not installed correctly and timing is off.

best bet is to see if you can activate the solenoid with the scanner.

also might want to recheck timing.

not sure how easy this is.

guessing not easy at all.

Still no code but we have not brought the RPM up still idling slightly rough

It also has a tick on the right hand bank that comes and goes lasting for various intervals of a couple of second to a minute which starts of slow and increases in frequency (when it starts it sounds like a injector tick)

ok lloyd, I think i am venturing a littl outside my comfort zone since i have not personally done a chain in one of these i dont want to waste your time with my guesses and assumptiions, let me opt out and see if another can help better. i was certain it would have been a solenoid issue or wiring but now im thinking the issue is the timing or actuator.

so best of luck sir, i know another will come along and have some better info

Hi Pete,
We swapped exhaust bank 2 sensor with exhaust bank 1 sensor. Still have no phaser response when actuating exhaust bank 2.
I haven't had a chance to video it, I'll send it as soon as I can.

Has programming been checked in the engine computer to make sure it is up to date with the latest and correct calibrations at all?

No it has not been checked . If you read back through the notes on our previous question "no crank no start" this issue arouse after a engine rebuild due to a spun main bearing, New timing chains, tensioners, tensioner gaskets, guides, sprockets & cam actuators where installed. The old cam sensors & solenoids where used, but we have swapped these around as part of the elimination process

Is there any way to manually check if the cam actuator has its +50/-50 degree of moment. My thoughts are the locking pin or the cam actuator is stuck as a result of bearing material contamination from the previous repair or pressure loss to that cam actuator

I apologize for the delay as I have been battling the flu.

I dont see a procedure myself on checking the degree of movement on the actuator.I am unable to locate a procedure in my info.If any metal had got into the actuator this can damage it to where the actuator is stuck needing replaced.
