Cadillac DTS 2006. 52K miles 55 psi fuel pressure. Cranks but will not hit at all. Was running great. I have pictures from scanner OBD2 Innova 3020

On the scan tool, when you crank it, does it show engine RPM something other than zero? Should be about 200rpm cranking speed.

Just hooked it up and cranked it doesn't show anything innova 3020b $50 tool

OK. The reason I wanted you to look at that is that this is a simple quick check to see if the crank sensors are reading. If the engine is spinning over and there is no RPM indicated on the scan tool, that tells me there is something wrong with the crank sensor circuits. There are two crank sensors on this engine, though, and it's unlikely that both of them have failed. Typically, the engine will run with one failed sensor, but stranger things have happened.

Any trouble codes stored if you look with the scan tool?

But your scan tool does communicate with the ECM? Can you see other data, such as throttle position, if you turn the key on, and open the throttle, can you see this data reflected on the scan tool data list?

Ah, your scan tool does not read live data. We don't know if the RPM is reading or not.

You will need a more powerful scan tool than what you have to arrive at any useful data from the ECM. Short of that, we're down to basics: spark and fuel. It's difficult to verify spark on this engine, because of how the coils are designed. But you have fuel pressure, what we don't know is whether you have fuel injector pulse.

Is the security light illuminated on the dash for more than a few seconds when you try to start it?

Well, a scan tool that would read live data would be very helpful. If you can smell fuel, we can probably assume that it's getting fuel.

Hold the throttle wide open and crank it, and see if it starts. Give it several tries, holding the throttle wide open the whole time.

I tried holding the pedal to the floor a few days this week. I will go to Auto Zone tomorrow to get a better scanner any common thing this could be I might pick up a part?

Actually, the Northstar engine is very reliable. Fuel pump failure would be a top hitter, but you've checked that. You may have a coolant temp or other sensor that is out of range, and is flooding the engine. I'd be looking very closely at the scan tool data for clues in this regard.

Or, you could spend $100 at a good, local repair shop, and have this diagnosed, and not have a diagnostic tool sitting on your shelf that you'll rarely use.
