When I turn on the heated seats, the light comes on for a few seconds and then goes off.

Mechanic's Assistant: Just to clarify, what are the exact lights you're talking about?

The heated seat lights on the dash they consist of three bars of declining length.

Mechanic's Assistant: What is the model/year of your Cadillac?

2013 SRX

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your SRX yourself? What have you tried so far?

Since the car is out of warranty, I would like to know if there is a simple fix before I take it to a dealership.

So thats a fairly complicated system but it does have a seat module that can be reset by removing the battery cables, you can do this by removing the negative then positive, touch both cables together and let sit for 30 mins and re connect positive then negative
