Customer Question

After driving the truck (ESV) for a period of time, the shifting from 1st to 2nd and then 2nd to 3rd is very hard. At times, the check engine light is triggered when this happens. After the truck sits for awhile, the shifting returns to normal. I just had the fluid and filter changed. I believe there was a TSB issued on this problem, but I don't know how to fix the problem.
JA: Does the light stay on, or does it blink?
Customer: Stays on - I had it cleared when the filter/fluid were changed.
JA: What is the model/year of your Cadillac?
Customer: 2005 Escalade ESV
JA: Are you fixing your Escalade ESV yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: All the work was done by a local auto repair shop.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: The mechanic who worked on it is familiar with GM vehicles, but he hadn't come across this issue before.

Hello, my name is***** is a common issue on this vehicle. Most of the time this is a valve body issue. It can be the pressure solenoid failing, or most of the time it is caused by the valves sticking in the valve body. Most of the time the only way to fix this is by replacing the valve body. I hope this helps. If you need anything else please let me know.
