I just purchased 04 SRX from a friend-severe health

Customer Question

I just purchased 04 SRX from a friend-severe health problems. Car hasn't been driven much in past 3-4 yrs. Purchased the car more to help him with Dr bills. Bronze Star with Valor in 69-my closest pal. Just getting my feet wet on this car-don't know if I'll fix it or not? Lt rear wheel v-6 rwd 370 degrees after driving short trip? Also ignition acts as though battery low but is new-cuts off at times, won't start sometimes, loosen battery ground cable bolt 90 degrees, relay click then will start? Thanks for the offer
JA: How old is the battery? And have you tested it with a voltmeter?
Customer: 1st replacement in May 16- Advanced Auto Battery 2replacement 3 weeks ago. No corrosion at all
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: My history is new car dealership parts and service pencil pusher. Nothing as complicated as this thing, lol. Not sure if I'm able, just fishing the net right now
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: Don't want to waste anyones time -nice car 100k miles but not worth taking to dealership to correct all problems

the overheat may be from a bad brake hose not allowing the brakes to fully release.

the slow crank may be from a low battery or a bad starter motor.

do you have a volt meter to do some checks
