Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

It sounds as if the trans went into limp in. When the trans controller sees an issue that will prevent proper operation it will set a fault code and lock the trans in a single gear to prevent damage.

There are many things that can cause limp in ranging from solenoids, pressure switches, speed sensors, wiring, internal trans issues and the trans controller itself.

P0700 sets in the engine controller when there is a code stored in the trans controller and is just informational. The first step in diagnosing the problem will be to see what codes are set in the TCM and then testing can be done from there.
