I'm sorry you are having problems with your vehicle. I will try to help.I'm a full time mechanic and have been a mechanic for over 20 yrs and I work part-time here on JustAnswer to help you and others repair their own vehicles, and I get credited by your ratings.. So before leaving the site make sure and leave me a rating. You can still reply to me as many times as neeed, even after the rating.. I will need for you to be my hands and eyes since I'm not there. It sounds like you have a loose connection somewhere.
Have you checked to make sure the battery cables are clean and tight on the battery posts? And the wires are tight in the battery terminals? Also that the cable is tight on the starter?Let me know. So I can continue to assist. Thanks
Sonny

Gotcha. Then it may be in the BCM. But I am out of the shop the rest of the day so I can't look up the tests. I will opt out for now and see if someone can help you sooner.

Hi there,

Does the steering unlock when you first push the start button?

Have you scanned the car for any codes set?

Gary

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
when you push start buttom all power goes out, when scann, no codes appear.
Expert:  Gary replied 1 year ago.

Are you using a GM scan tool?

I find it hard to believe there are no codes.

DOES THE STEERING UNLOCK WHEN YOU ATTEMPT TO START IT?

Will the headlights stay on while you try to start it?

Gary

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
the steering wheel does not lock, the lights goes out when you push button, about 25 seconds later every thing lights back up.
Expert:  Gary replied 1 year ago.

Does the steering wheel ever lock, can you lock the wheel?

Sounds like a column lock module faulty.

Engine no start condition when this occurs.

Gary

can not lock the wheel, and it never lock.
Expert:  Gary replied 1 year ago.

I would say you need to get the car to a GM dealer now, more than likely the fault is the SCLM or BCM.

Or some wiring wiring fault in between.

If you are not using a GM scan tool, that's not a good start.

Now will you take it to a GM dealer, I am the first tech here to tell you the column lock is the cause.

I hope my advice has been of assistance to you.

Hope this helps.

what is the sclm, will the column module, bcm and sclm give you a no start.
Expert:  Gary replied 1 year ago.

Hi again,

The SLCM is the Steering Column Lock Module.

This module makes a small noise (comes off lock), when you go to start the vehicle.

Have you noticed that?

I would take all of your keys in case the dealer needs them for programming.

Gary

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
does the sclm have to be reprogrammed when installed? there is no noise from it when trying to start.
Expert:  Gary replied 1 year ago.

Yes, new column lock modules (SCLM) need to programmed after installation.
