Customer Question

My '06 STS has a knocking sound in the rear end. I can make it happen when I jerk the car during acceleration. If I am starting up a hill from a stop it won't do it. However, if I start on level ground and accelerate fast it will knock, than again if I stop fast. I'm convinced it isn't the transmission. Could it be where the drivetrain connects to the rear? Is there a u-joint connector that wears out? I have 173,000 miles on it and it just started after being parked for 4 months...Thanks!

Aldo, I can baby it during acceleration and keep it from happening completely. I can feel it under my feet, as well as the passenger, but hear it in the rear of the car.
