Customer Question

I just bought a 06 Cadillac STS and the sound system is out. The radio comes on but no sound - cant personalize settings either (don't know if it is related). We opened and looked at the amp it didn't appear to be damaged but went ahead and bought a supposedly working one off of ebay. Plugged it in and still have the same problem. Any ideas?

sorry for the delay............
Greetings...... “Hi, I’m Don (aka MOLurch) and I look forward to helping you!”
You need use of GM Dealer Scan Tool, to Test & Program the Radio, AMP, Communications Control Module & BCM (body control module), as all must communicate to Turn AMP ON
There is no way to Test AMP without DATA Communication to turn it ON
apprx 1 hour labor
I would also install the Old AMP before you have this done

Would it be a bad idea just to pick up a bcm and ccm and try replacing them. I'm thinking it might be one of those because the check engine light is on and the airbag light is on too. Where is the bcm located?

sorry for the & snow
IF you replace the BCM & CCM you will still need use of GM Dealer Scan Tool to Progam
They are NOT Plug & Play............has to be Programmed to vehicle
Shouldn't be more than 1 hour testing to give you exact cause, which would be cheaper than replacing parts
