why wont my 1997 cadillac sts with 100k stay in overdrive it must shift out because it has to pickup rpms when you restep on the gas

This fault here is usually caused by a faulty torque converter lock up solenoid.If the solenoid isn't engaging or disengaging properly this occurs.
I would have this tested to see if it needs replaced as I suspect it does.
