Cadillac Seville STS: I have an 1998 Cadillac STS. Neither

Customer Question

I have an 1998 Cadillac STS. Neither key fob 1 or 2 will work on any of the four key fob functions. Batteries are new in both 1 and 2 key fobs. The underdash trunk and fuel button work properly. I'm suspecting a fuse or something in the front or back BEC is causing the problem but not sure which fuse to check.

My next step would be attempting to program the fobs. This requires a capable scan tool, probably a job best left to your dealer. There is also a device that your dealer uses to test the fobs, to make sure that each button actually sends a signal, if this were in my shop, I would be doing both of those things. You cannot program these transmitters without a capable scan tool, so your DIY options are pretty limited on this repair.
