Customer Question

I have a 2005 Cadillac CTS. My engine light had been on for a few days, but seemed to run fine. Then after filling up with gas, the car just cut out! No stall, just shut off, and the key was still in the run position. It cut out 2 more times, and did not
restart. The ignition would turn over and stay in the start position, but would not catch. I would have to manually bring it back to the run position and turn it off. I had it to have it towed, and have not had a diagnostic done on it yet. Debating as to have
it diagnosed at Pep Boys or just take it to the dealership ($$$!). What does it sound to you? Thanks!

My name is ***** ***** I am a professional here at Just Answer. I noticed that your question was not getting a response and thought I would see if you still need help with this.I apologize for the delay and I hope I can still assist you with this here.
This sounds like a possible ignition switch fault or ignition cylinder fault.I have seen both fail before and cause this issue and had to replace the affected component. It is best to have a dealer or authorized repair facility check into the fault as they will have the most experience for this issue here.
Thanks Pete
