Cadillac Eldorado: 1975 Cadillac Eldorado 500. No oil pressure.

Customer Question

1975 Cadillac Eldorado 500. No oil pressure. Replaced sending unit, rebuilt pump, changed oil, primed engine, oil came out of port for sending unit when priming, blocked off oil pump bypass, still no oil pressure. Used mechanical gauge the whole time.

I'd suggest removing the oil pump front cover and pack between the gears with petroleum jelly ( which then dissolves as soon as the engine runs) this really helps the pump prime up

if you're still having issues then I'd say the oil pick up inside the sump may have a crack or other leak path thats drawing air into the pump inlet
