99 Deville: i disable/bypass the security system

Customer Question

Hello and thank you for using JustAnswer. My name is David and I will do my best to help you with your Cadillac problem.

This system can be disabled by installing a resistor across the wiring coming out of the steering column from the igntion lock cylinder. Resistor needs to match resistance of chip in key. See illustrations below.

That is not a passkey 3 system the 3 system has a fab in the key not a resistor

1999 deville shows to be the passkey 2 system. If you have the transponder in the head of the key and do not have the chip visible in the key then you would have to purchase and install a passlock bypass module. These can be purchased on ebay or through car stereo installation shops.

It has a module around the cylinder and it says passkey 3 on it... I asked a stero shop and they told me no
Expert:  Dave Nova replied 6 years ago.
Most of the time the module in the ignition lock sylnder is what goes bad. You can replace the igniton lock cylinder or try one of the bypass modules.

It doesn't have a module in the cylinder, i don't want to fix it, i want to bypass it
Expert:  Dave Nova replied 6 years ago.
Use of a bypass module is the way to go. Click here.
