99 Deville: THEFT SYSTEM..flashing..cant start..its not the chip

Customer Question

I have a 99 Deville. The "THEFT SYSTEM PROBLEM....CAR MAY NOT RESART" message keeps flashing across the screen and i cant start the car. It says in the manual that its not the chip in the key if that message is reading. I need to be at work in a few hours is there anyway to bypass this? I lost my remote fav awhile ago i hope that has nothing to do with it. Id be greatful for any advise please. Scott Lubrant

That problem is usually a bad chip in the key or an open circuit in the ignition lock cylinder wiring. There are no quick ways to bypass the pass key system. Here is a link if you want to completely bypass the pass key theft system
