Can an employer be held accountable for abusing his authority i.e. exploiting an employee by having the employee perform home improvement services on the supervisor's home on company time? Although this occurrence happened 10 yrs. ago two immediate supervisors where made aware of this at the time but no action was taken by them. Since no action was taken by either immediate supervisors this was never reported any higher to the HR dept. as fear of retaliation might have occurred for being a whistle blower.
