I had planned to give exactly 2 weeks. I realize that it is allowed to term someone when that notice is given. Does that change any part of this answer?

Good morning,

Thanks for asking for me.

I'm not sure what it would change. If you give notice before the end of the year, you risk the employer letting you go. If you aren't planning to leave until mid-January, and you give notice in the 2nd---then you will be fine.
