I have contacted CIGNA many, many, times but I still get the run-a-round. It has something to do with whether my employer's company is based in California, or my insurance carrier (CIGNA) is based in California, and if my employer's company is self insured or not.
A: Yes. That's pretty much what I already explained in my previous answers.
How do I find out if 1. The my employer's company is based in California.
Cigna Corporate Headquarters
900 Cottage Grove Road
Bloomfield, CT 06002
2. If CIGNA is based in California. or 3. Is my employer self insured.
I'm not at all sure, but I think CIGNA is trying to tell me that if the answer to any of these questions is "No", then I'm not eligible for an extension. Honestly, I'm still totally confused at to whom I would need to speak with, who I would need to contact, or what paperwork I would need to complete, or to whom I would need to send the paperwork to, get an extension. Can you help me?
A: Yes, that's what CIGNA is telling you, and that's what I've already told you. And, I have explained your only options, available as a consequence. So, to review:
- If you cannot get Cal-COBRA for CIGNA; and
- Your employer does not offer Kaiser; and
- You are medically uninsurable, due to preexisting conditions, then
- The only remaining option is the Managed Risk Medical Insurance Coverage (MRMIP) offered through the State of California.(click here).
Please understand that I "justanswer" questions “about” the law. I have no interest in providing you with anything less than a completely satisfying answer. However, if the law does not favor your unique circumstances, then the best that I can do is to explain what the law "is" and what it "is not."
Hope this helps.
And, if you need to contact me again, please put my user id on the title line of your question (“ToCustomerrdquo;), and the system will send me an alert. Thanks!
