Customer Question

The Lawrence County Ohio issued me some checks, which were never cashed. I found some of the checks recently and called the Court House of Lawrence County. I was told that when checks are not cashed, the County returns the money to the county, and that
Lawrence County will not reissue the payments, even if you possess the old checks. I wondered if such a policy is legal?

Most banks will not cash a check that was issued six months prior to cashing. This is not a law but rather a bank policy.

Can you tell me what these checks were for and the period of time they remained uncashed?
