In an interrogatory like this, if they are asking you why you deny one of their allegations, you need to state the facts you have that you are claiming would not make you liable for their claim in the complaint. So if the claim is for breach of contract, for example (since you did not say anything about the complaint), you can state something like, "The contract called for repair of the vehicle. The vehicle was not properly repaired by plaintiff, and as such they were the party in breach of contract and the defendant does not owe any payment to the plaintiff since they failed to properly perform on the contract."
