What is the most cost-effective way to start a business in California. We are two people who would like to start a service oriented business, we both have personal assets we would like to protect. We were also told that we could/should incorporate in another state like Wisconsin, Delaware or Nevada...what do you think?
Hello. My name is XXXXX XXXXX I will be happy to answer your question.

What type of service would you be offering?

What is more important to you, tax shelter or corporate protection?

Helping small businesses start, grow, evolve.....

I think corporate protection would probably be the most important but we are not necessarily worried right now about lawsuits, however we are thinking about initial out of pocket costs for starting our company and the carrying costs each year....know what I mean?
Generally if you want most corporate protection and the state that has laws and courts that are more favorable to corporations, I would suggest incorporating in Delaware.

Delaware has laws that grant high level of protection to corporations and also courts that have consistently been corporation friendly.

This is the reason why many major banks and financial companies are incorporate in Delaware.
