We have a non-profit corporation set up in the state of Texas

Resolved Question:

We have a non-profit corporation set up in the state of Texas for our church. We are in the process of submitting the application for 501c3 status from the federal government. We also have a few other churches and missions in different states. Question is, should we wait for 501c3 approval from the federal government before registering our organization in other states?

Thank you for the post, I am happy to assist you by answering your questions. Yes, you should wait for federal 501c3 status, this is because in order to avail yourself to the benefits of the charitable organization distinction in other states you must be federally recognized unless you want to apply for such tax exempt status from every state wherein your organization will conduct business.
