Customer Question
I have 2005 Buick century...
I have 2005 Buick century with the 3.1l engine in it, when i turn the car on it will over heat within a mile or two, previous owner says it leaks coolant, we put some coolant in the car, drover around and the car had no visibly leaks, oil looks clean, however there is a tick coming from the engine bay, it doesn't sound like a rattle like a clogged cat, i am also getting a P0420 code. Have not really dug into the car yet, just getting some advice in witch direction to go.

did you check the coolant level?

Ask Your Own Buick Question
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
did notice as well as there is some smoke coming from under the valve cover.
Buick Mechanic: david craig, ASE Certified Technician replied 7 months ago

ok, its apparent there's a leak. you need to have a coolant system pressure test done to see if the leak is internal or external

Already done and no visible leaks.

Buick Mechanic: david craig, ASE Certified Technician replied 7 months ago

it might only be the pressurized cap that has failed not allowing it to pressurize to 16 psi.
