It flashed until I got home and hasn't come back on since. Drove fine until I got to the auto part store and then started sputtering an idling heavy

Usually the flashing check engine light is an indication of a problem with the ignition system. Since you have already done the plugs and wire, I would suggest the coils as the likely issue. Now you might be able to remove the wires one at a time and really inspect the coils for any burn marks or cracks in them. Sometimes they fail when they get wet or hot or I have even seen them fail under high rpms. So, it sounds like you are going to need a new set of coils. If the light stays on and you can come up with the specific cylinder that's causing the problem, then you won't have to replace them all.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

What about the ignition control module?
Buick Mechanic: Mike V., Auto Service Technician replied 10 months ago

It is possible, but a coil would be more common an issue. If you have multiple misfires then the module is more likely the culprit then more then one coil. Most of the time when the ICM fails the car won't have any spark at all.

There was a strong fuel smell when I changed the back spark plugs on the left side facing the motor. Think its because they're not properly firing? I replaced the coils 10 months ago... Shouldn't they last longer them that?
Buick Mechanic: Mike V., Auto Service Technician replied 10 months ago

They should last longer, but if you used aftermarket they may not. I think it would depend more on the amount of miles then the actual age.

Also, typically you would have a fuel smell on the ones not firing like you think. If you don't see any burn marks on the coils, then it might be worth while to replace the ICM

I'm limited on funds so what do you think the best option is.
Buick Mechanic: Mike V., Auto Service Technician replied 10 months ago

I think the best option is to take a very close look at those coils with a flashlight and look for any indication the spark is going any place other then through the plug wires. Then if they look good after very careful inspection, go with the ICM
