Checked my odometer at 12a at 9a it showed 30, 000 more miles than at 12a. I push the trip odometer and it showed the correct numbers. What is it that I might be looking at?

Hello is it possible that the conversion was made from kilometers to miles per hour, which would have a great impact on the mileage shown. It is real easy to switch back and forth between miles and kilometers. I know when my grandmother got her new buick, she did it several times,
