I think the water pump went out but Im not sure, It came

Customer Question

I think the water pump went out but Im not sure
JA: Has the vehicle ever overheated? And when was it last serviced?
Customer: It came about three quarters up the heat gauge on the dash but never in the red. It was last serviced about 5 months ago. Its a 2011 Buick Lacrosse CXL 3.6L
JA: Are you fixing your LaCrosse yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I arrived home just as I noticed the heat issue. I let it cool slightly and added the 50/50 mix of coolant to the overflow and waited for the coolant to meet the mark. After adding the new coolant and letting the car run for about 30 min watching the temp I noticed no new leakage and the car temp returned to normal. The car has only 18,466 miles on it.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: I don't think so. I don't hear any unusual noises and the cooling problem seems to have fixed itself but Im not sure if I will damage it by driving. One other thing is that the car's a/c also went out at the same time as the overheating but again when I added the new coolant and let it run, the ac came back on
